Drill method
How Framework CI structures candlestick reading drills — from the prep note to the last critique of the evening.
The drill method is the spine of Framework CI. Everything else — labs, critiques, weekend blocks — borrows pieces of this structure.
Why timed rounds
Without a clock, traders narrate endlessly. A short timer forces a written bias before the next bar appears. The point is not speed-trading; it is committing to a sentence while information is incomplete — the same pressure you feel when a live candle closes.
The evening arc
- Settle and instrument check
Confirm who is watching FX, equities, or futures. Charts for the night are already loaded; you do not need to import files. - Warm-up bar
One untimed candle with full prior context. Instructors listen for whether people jump to pattern names or describe body and wick first. - Timed drill rounds
Six rounds. Each hides follow-through. You annotate on paper or tablet, then stop when time ends — unfinished notes stay unfinished. - Reveal and critique
The next bars appear. Instructors do not grade “correct calls.” They ask where context was thin and where the written sentence matched the later path. - Close-out habits
Two or three personal notes to try on your own replay this week. No homework police — just a clear next practice.
What we mark on every chart
- Relative body size versus the last handful of candles
- Wick length and where price was rejected
- Location: swing, mid-range, or open space after a gap
- A one-line bias that could be wrong without shame
What we leave out
We do not run signal contests. We do not project indicator soups that hide the candles. Oscillators may appear later in private critiques if you use them; drill nights stay on price bars.
Preparing for your first seat
Sleep if you can. Eat something. Decide your primary timeframe so we load sensible history. Read nothing the afternoon of the session — arrive with a clear head rather than a crammed pattern list.
After the session
Keep your annotation sheets. Many clients photograph them and revisit the same bars a week later without the timer. When you are ready for shared comparison, the live annotation lab is the natural next room.
