Dojis at swings versus dojis in the noise
Doji candles attract stickers and highlighters. In live annotation labs, the same shape appears twice on one replay: once after a measured rally into resistance, once in the middle of an afternoon drift. Traders who treat both as equal signals muddy their journals.
Swing dojis
At a prior reaction high or low, a doji says the auction paused where it has paused before. That is worth a written note — even if the next bar continues the trend and proves the pause temporary.
Noise dojis
Mid-range dojis often mean thin participation or a lunch lull. Marking every one trains your eye to see indecision everywhere, which is another way of seeing nothing.
Drill cue
On our sheets the prompt is simple: “Nearest swing within N bars?” If you cannot name it quickly, skip the dramatic language. Save your ink for dojis that sit on structure you already care about.
